EDER 689.11 Issues in Outdoor Education

This course will address the issues that surround the implementation of outdoor activities/programs in schools and outdoor learning organizations. Considerations will include how we can defend and argue for greater advocacy for such programs while acknowledging the import of conducting appropriate risk and benefit analysis processes. We will consider the research evidence demonstrating that a misinformed understanding of the outdoors has resulted in a reluctance to authentically engage students in the natural environment.
