COMPUTERS & TECHNOLOGY
Students are provided the opportunity to learn hands-on how to operate computers and expand their knowledge of computer applications. Developing strong basic computing skills and an operational knowledge of general use software, students will be informed about the responsibilities and hazards of using computer technology. The goal of this course is to help students operate computer technology safely, responsibly, and proficiently.

Computer Projects (Mandatory):
Digital Citizenship (Mandatory) Due: End of February - Personal misuse and abuse of technology have reached epidemic proportions in schools as well as in our daily lives.
First you need to book a time that will work with a teacher. Leave them a note in their mail box, with an RSVP to Miss. Stone.
You need to create an age appropriate presentation for another class in our school. Define what digital citizenship is and how it affects them. Create or use a visual representations to help other students understand the importance of this subject.
Your mark will be based on the teachers notes. You need to print and give them the following Exit slip and that will determine the groups/individual 's mark.

Google Drive / Websites (Mandatory) Due: End of February - We will be working with Google Drive and improving our websites throughout the term. Handing in project, organization, or displaying our master pieces.

Students will create a webpage to be used as a portfolio.
Background:
1) Take a look at Mr. Allison’s/ Ms.Weber’s/Miss. Stone's Webpages.
2) View tutorial on Weebly.
Step One: Create your own webpage. How to Link.
Step Two: Brainstorm Possible Sections to Include on Webpage.
1) Students will brainstorm 5 sections that they could include.
You need to create and maintain 5 full pages. Al least one page must include a BLOGGING section. You need to Blog about a choice topic once a month. That means you need 5 posts. (Marks /10)

Projects (Choose 4 out of the following 7 Projects; you will present your favorite project to the class)
Presentations - Find a presentation tool that you have used and create a presentation with that program which highlights all of its features. This presentation needs to be created on a computer. A one page print out for classmates needs to be handed out explaining the basic functions of your presentation and how to use them.
Photoshop - We will take pictures and use different programs to create different and enhanced pictures. We will be looking at different options of online programs as well as the basic of how to use a camera. IDEAS:

IPad Apps - We will be experimenting with different Apps on IPads, trying different free app that are available to see what we can create. Working in groups to discover all of the different apps features and then sharing that information with our classmates.
Google Drive Apps - Discover, describe, develop, and discuss apps that work with Google Drive.
Movies or Digital Story Telling- We will create movies which allow us to work with different programs to create the images that we want.
Choice Technology - Find something different that we have not looked at so far. How does it work? Practical use? Why did you choose this hardware or soft ware?
